MIAMI (AP) - A woman and her two children are dead following an early-morning fire at their Miami-Dade County apartment.
The fire broke out early Wednesday morning at the Country Lane condos
Miami-Dade police say the fire apparently started in the kitchen of the third-floor unit. Once firefighters put out the flames, they found the bodies of 42-year-old Katrena Williams, 12-year-old Makayla Williams and 3-year-old Vincent Williams Jr. in the bedroom.
Police say all three were taken to a hospital where they later died, possibly of smoke inhalation. Autopsy results are pending the medical examiner’s report.
The Miami-Dade Police Department’s homicide division is investigating the fire.
