TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say an Arizona prison inmate is dead from an apparent suicide.

State Department of Corrections officials say 30-year-old inmate Victor Romero-Sangria was pronounced dead at the University of Arizona Medical Center in Tucson.

Details of the apparent suicide weren’t immediately released Wednesday.

DOC officials say Romero-Sangria was sentenced out of Pinal County and was serving a 2 ½-year prison term for marijuana violations at the state prison complex in Tucson.

They say all inmate deaths are investigated in consultation with the county medical examiner.
