CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Unemployment rates fell in 54 of West Virginia’s 55 counties in April.

WorkForce West Virginia says the jobless rate in Pocahontas County rose to 12.1 percent, the highest in the state.

Pendleton County has the state’s lowest unemployment rate at 3.8 percent, followed by Monongalia at 3.9 percent and Jefferson at 4 percent.

Other counties with double-digit unemployment were Mingo (11.6), Webster (10.8) and McDowell (10).

The state’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate in April fell one-tenth of a percentage point to 6 percent.
