TYLER, Texas — A 10-year-old boy is safe after driving his grandfather’s pickup truck away from a doctor’s office and crashing into a fence.

Police in Tyler said they received a call Wednesday night from someone who spotted the boy driving the truck. Police say the caller tried to get the child to pull the truck over, but was unsuccessful.

The boy eventually turned the truck into the parking lot of the local children’s science center. That’s where the truck struck a metal guard fence and came to a stop.

Officers determined the boy took his grandfather’s keys and left a doctor’s waiting room after an argument with a younger sibling.

No one was injured and no charges will be filed.
