MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Minnesota Vikings say the NFL’s decision to hold the 2018 Super Bowl in Minneapolis is vindication for the millions of dollars going into a new stadium.
Spokesman Lester Bagley says he spent 12 years at the Capitol pressing for a new building, and the team always said a Super Bowl would come from it. Bagley says it’s a reward for politicians, business leaders and fans. He says the big game will bring 100,000 people to Minnesota.
Gov. Mark Dayton said before Tuesday’s vote by league owners that Minnesota’s cold weather would be a big hurdle for getting the game.
But Vikings owner Mark Wilf says the group promoting Minneapolis didn’t shy away from talking about the weather. He says the team and city will put on a great event.
