VIENNA, W.Va. (AP) - The city of Vienna is seeking to buy a former manufacturing plant.

The former Johns Manville plant closed in 2006. Huntington-based Eaves Recycling has been in charge of recycling and scrapping at the site.

The Parkersburg News and Sentinel (https://bit.ly/1o1zeoP ) reports that City Council unanimously voted Monday night to authorize Mayor Randy Rapp to enter into negotiations with Eaves Recycling.

Rapp says the council wants to buy the entire 33-acre site. The property would be used as a public area.

He says there will be a public meeting on the proposed acquisition.
