BANGOR, Maine (AP) - The University of Maine will host a two-day conference about the implications of diminishing Arctic Sea ice.

The conference takes place Tuesday and Wednesday and is hosted by University of Maine School of Policy and International Affairs and the Maine Army National Guard. Organizers said in a statement the event will “explore challenges and emerging opportunities in the Artic.”

The event is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. both days at Maine Army National Guard Regional Training Institute, located at 289 Hildreth St. North in Bangor. Speakers are expected to address global, national and Maine issues related to the environment, trade, politics, and policy.
