AKRON, Ohio (AP) - The city of Akron is allowing food trucks to park on public streets, but operators of the mobile vendors are criticizing the high fees attached to the legislation.
The city council on Monday approved allowing food trucks, but with the requirement that operators must pay a $225 application fee - and another $1,750 annually to set up on two streets in a specific high-traffic corridor of downtown.

The amount of the fee has been criticized by food truck operators and the Institute for Justice, an Arlington, Virginia, law firm that had helped Akron’s food truck owners form a coalition.
