SALEM, Va. (AP) - Union workers at Yokohama Tire Corp.’s Salem plant will consider a proposed four-year contract next week.

United Steelworkers Local 1023 president Steve Jones says the union and the company tentatively agreed on the contract late Friday night.

Jones tells The Roanoke Times (https://bit.ly/1mRDnJJ ) that the union will hold meetings next week to present the proposal to members. Workers will then vote on whether to ratify the agreement.

Jones says the union believes the contract is fair to both sides. He declined to provide details.

The Salem plant manufactures passenger, high performance and light-truck tires.
