NEW YORK (AP) - Mayor Bill de Blasio is announcing the creation of a task force to help New Yorkers find better paying jobs.
The 11-person team is comprised of city officials, activists and business leaders.
De Blasio made the announcement Tuesday at the Brooklyn Army Terminal, which has been converted into a home for dozens of businesses.
The building, which was built in 1919, is slated to receive another $100 million from the city budget for further rehabilitation.
The mayor said he wanted the city to become home to “quality jobs - not minimum wage jobs.”
The group’s specific benchmarks are unclear. It is due to deliver a report with concrete recommendations later this year.
The announcement comes a day after de Blasio delivered a speech urging the creation of more high-tech jobs.
