RALEIGH, NC (AP) - North Carolina lawmakers are taking note of the U.S. military and its presence in the state with a resolution expressing appreciation and gratitude.
Both parties in the House and Senate unanimously supported the military appreciation resolution Tuesday, noting the value the military has brought to North Carolina with six major military bases in the state.
Several lawmakers thanked the military, speaking of how contributions and sacrifices have benefited citizens.
Sen. Harry Brown of Onslow County, home to Camp Lejeune, said military contributions to North Carolina cannot be understated.
The resolution noted that North Carolina is home to nearly 800,000 veterans and has the third largest military force in the nation with nearly 120,000 active duty personnel.
