HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Dauphin County prison officials say the facility was placed on lockdown while staff members searched for a piece of metal that went missing from a cell block.

County spokeswoman Amy Richards Harinath said the prison went into lockdown at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday.

During the lockdown inmates remain in their cells and no visitation is allowed. The lockdown also allows staff to make a thorough search of the prison for safety and security reasons.

No injuries to inmates or employees have been reported.
