NEW YORK (AP) - A food festival planned for next year will showcase the culinary and cultural delights of one of the city’s most storied neighborhoods - Harlem.
Mayor Bill de Blasio and former President Bill Clinton announced the event on Tuesday.
The three-day festival set to debut next May will showcase food from local restaurants like Sylvia’s and Red Rooster. Organizers say it will also be a celebration of Harlem’s music, history and culture.
De Blasio cheered the festival as a further sign of the traditionally African-American neighborhood’s resurgence.
Clinton, whose foundation has its office in Harlem, is the festival’s honorary chair.
The former President applauded de Blasio, a former Democrat, for “an emerging brilliant first year of your leadership.”
The Clintons attended the mayor’s inauguration at City Hall in January.
