MADISON, Wis. (AP) - The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources plans to ask thousands of anglers about their habits over the coming year.
The agency plans to send out more than 1,000 questionnaires to randomly selected fishing license holders each month. Each mailing will ask the license holder to record where they fished and what they caught and kept. Anglers will be asked to return the card at the end of the month.
The effort began this month and will run until April 2015.
The DNR completed similar surveys in 2001 and 2006. The projects help DNR fisheries researchers identify trends, catch and harvest rates and see what species anglers favor.
