RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - A conservative fiscal group is trying to promote to television viewers and radio listeners the benefits of the tax overhaul law passed by North Carolina Republicans last year.

The Americans for Prosperity Foundation unveiled commercials Tuesday crediting new, reduced tax rates for more job creation and a state unemployment rate that’s now lower than the nation average.

Americans for Prosperity in North Carolina spokesman Donald Bryson says the group plans to spend a “few hundred thousand” dollars on the TV ads running in all major markets for three weeks starting Tuesday. A radio commercial also will run. The group also plans a “tax reform rally” next week in Raleigh.

Critics say the tax overhaul is generating less money for needed government services and isn’t helping revive the economy.
