WINDSOR, Vt. (AP) - Four towns in Vermont’s upper Connecticut River valley are grappling with failing infrastructure and water management issues.

The Valley News reports (https://bit.ly/R4kMha ) that the towns of Fairlee, West Fairlee and Thetford are working to address a leaking Lake Fairlee Dam.

A three-town committee is soliciting loans from lake shore property owners for an engineering study. The plan is to use that study to figure out what repairs will cost, put the issue to a bond vote in the three communities next Town Meeting Day, and then pay back those who lent money for the engineering study.

In Windsor, meanwhile, local officials are working to fix a sinkhole downtown that is being blamed on a failed culvert. Officials say fixing the sinkhole on Ascutney Street could take several weeks.
