RENO, Nev. (AP) - A 3-year-old girl has died from injuries she suffered in a multi-vehicle accident that shut down a major highway in Reno for several hours during the busy morning commute earlier this week.

KTVN-TV reports the parents of Samarra Redding have set up a fundraising webpage to help pay for medical bills and funeral costs. She died Thursday about 10 p.m.

Six others were injured in the chain-reaction collision that involved more than a half-dozen vehicles at about 8 a.m. Tuesday on U.S. 395 near Golden Valley just north of Reno.

The Nevada Highway Patrol says a preliminary investigation indicates the pileup began when a cement truck struck the rear of a car.

Trooper Scott Farmer told the Reno Gazette-Journal Friday the case remains under investigation and criminal charges are possible.
