NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Shell Oil Company is extending its sponsorship of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival by five more years through 2019.

John Hollowell, executive vice president of Shell Deep Water, announced the extension of its partnership with the festival during a press conference Friday at the Fair Grounds Race Course. It comes during the 45th annual edition of the festival, which runs through Sunday.

Hollowell said the company had relished its role for the past nine years and looked forward to helping the fest celebrate 50 years.

Festival producer Quint Davis says the festival has a $300 million annual economic impact on the New Orleans area.
