DENVER (AP) - Colorado Rockies infielder Josh Rutledge has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a viral infection.
To fill his roster spot, the Rockies recalled infielder Ryan Wheeler from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Friday.
Rutledge began the season with Colorado Springs before he was called up April 9. He has hit .318 in 11 games with the Rockies this season.
Wheeler was batting .247 with three home runs and nine RBIs in 24 games with Colorado Springs.
Meanwhile, manager Walt Weiss said right-hander Jhoulys Chacin will return from the disabled list to start Sunday against the New York Mets. Chacin has been on the DL since March 28, retroactive to March 21, with a right shoulder strain.
Weiss said Chacin was declared ready after coming out of a bullpen session Thursday with no problems.
