PHOENIX (AP) - The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office says a female inmate who escaped is now back in custody.

They say 32-year-old Roberta Gavina walked out of the Lower Buckeye Jail in Phoenix on Thursday before she was to be taken to a Glendale court for an appearance on shoplifting charges.

Sheriff’s officials say Gavina was taken into custody Friday morning at the west Phoenix home of her boyfriend’s aunt.

They say she now is facing felony escape charges in addition to the original misdemeanor charges in the shoplifting incident.
