DETROIT (AP) - The Michigan Supreme Court has fired the head of the agency that pursues lawyers suspected of misconduct.

Robert Agacinski is out as administrator at the Attorney Grievance Commission.

In a statement Friday, the Supreme Court says it wants to “improve operations” at the Detroit-based commission and “speed the resolution of pending cases.” The court didn’t elaborate on the problems.

Messages seeking comment were left for Agacinski. He was administrator since 2000. He’s been a lawyer for 42 years.

Commission Chairwoman Barbara Smith declined to comment on the court’s action, although she says she doesn’t believe investigations move too slowly.
