YANKTON, S.D. (AP) - The city of Yankton has reached a tentative agreement with its union employees following a mediation hearing.

Union employees last fall rejected the contract over a cost-of-living increase. The previous contract approved in 2010 has remained in effect.

City manager Amy Nelson said in a statement that management and union representatives “worked diligently to reach a compromise” and more details will be made available when the proposal is formally approved.

Union president Beth Parr tells the Yankton Press & Dakotan (https://bit.ly/1ks3ORK) she agrees with Nelson’s statement but had no further comment.
