TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Florida State’s Jameis Winston earned his sixth save of the season one day and had an awful outing the next as the Seminoles closed out the regular season last week. The Heisman winner played in three games, but did not have an at-bat.

The Seminoles received the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament and begin play Wednesday.

A look at how the 20-year-old sophomore fared last week:

___

IN RELIEF: Winston entered in the ninth inning of an 8-3 loss to Central Florida on Tuesday and gave up one run before he finished out the inning. Winston recorded the first two outs on a grounder and a flyball before he walked JoMarcos Woods, who stole second and moved to third on an error. Winston then allowed an RBI single before he got the final out on a popup. Winston earned save No. 6 in a 3-0 win against Duke on Thursday. Winston entered in the ninth and retired the side on a popup, a liner and a flyout. Nothing went well in a 9-8 win against Duke on Friday. He took the mound in the ninth inning with a runner on first, two outs and a 1-0 count. Winston was promptly called for his first balk of the season and sent the runner to second. He then got a chopper to the first baseman, but was credited with an error when Winston didn’t step on the bag while covering the base on the throw. He gave up a two-run double down the left-field line, then left without recording an out. Winston’s pitching line for the week: 2 innings, 2 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 0 K, 1 BB, 10 batters faced.

AT THE PLATE: He did not have a plate appearance.

IN THE FIELD: Winston was given an error while trying to cover first on a ball fielded by the first baseman on Friday. He failed to step on the bag.

HIGHLIGHT: The 1-2-3 ninth inning Thursday was a strong outing in a tight ballgame against a conference foe.

ON THE SEASON: Winston has five hits in 38 at-bats and is batting .132. He has pitched 28 innings, struck out 26 of the 103 batters he’s faced, given up 18 hits and walked five. He has six saves with a 1.29 ERA.

ON DECK: Florida State is the No. 2 seed in the ACC tournament and will play the winner of North Carolina and N.C. State at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in Greensboro, North Carolina.
