MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) - One of the four pianos painted by high school students and placed around Mason City has been damaged by a vandal.

Police say a 21-year-old man early Sunday morning tipped over the piano that had been sitting in front of Lorados restaurant since Friday. The man was cited for criminal mischief and public intoxication. Online court records don’t yet list the case.

Officials say the piano, valued at $750, probably is a total loss.

The four donated pianos were decorated by 20 high school juniors as part of a project they called Tunes for the Town.
