ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - The next leader of the University of Michigan says he wants to change the way the school reports employee compensation.

Mark Schlissel, who becomes the school’s president in July, tells The Ann Arbor News (https://bit.ly/1lAMUSB ) that he wants the Ann Arbor school to report supplemental pay and bonuses as well as base compensation. Of the change, he said: “Transparency is important.”

The school is required to by state law to report base salaries of its employees, but recently faculty have publicly asked the school to disclose all compensation.

The faculty’s Senate Advisory Committee on University Affairs passed a resolution earlier this month calling for the university to publish full compensation data. In doing so, faculty say the school would increase accountability and reduce suspicions about extra compensation.
