ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - The dominant carrier at Albuquerque’s airport plans to trim its flight roster there.

Southwest Airlines on Monday announced it will drop six Albuquerque flights this fall. According to the Albuquerque Journal (https://ow.ly/x1a3F ), the flights to be dropped include three to Dallas and one each to Phoenix, Las Vegas and Seattle.

Southwest accounts for more than half of all passengers flying in and out of the Albuquerque airport.

That traffic has benefited from a federal law that will expire in the fall. It prohibited Southwest flights out of Dallas from flying beyond a handful of nearby states.

Starting in November, Southwest will offer five daily nonstops between Albuquerque and Dallas, down from eight last November.
