The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee finally had something to crow about, announcing Monday that it raised slightly more than its Republican counterpart in April.

The DSCC announced that it raked in $6.3 million last month and had $25 million cash on hand.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee announced last week that collected just over $6 million in contributions last month and had a little more than $19 million in the bank.

The latest tally shows the DSCC has raised $80 million this election cycle, putting it ahead of the NRSC by about $21 million.

The Senate Democrats need the money to beat back Republicans who are poised to pick up the net six seats needed to take control of the upper chamber.

Both the committees announced their fundraising totals ahead of Tuesday’s deadline for monthly reports to the Federal Election Commission.
