PITTSBURGH (AP) - Police in western Pennsylvania are investigating a shooting that left a Pittsburgh market owner dead and critically injured a woman who apparently witnessed the shooting and called 911.

Pittsburgh public safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler said detectives believe the shooting followed an attempted robbery at the Allendale Market in the Sheraden section of the city.

Toler said a fight occurred in the store at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday and the owner ran outside, where he was shot.

The Allegheny County medical examiner’s office identified the victim as 50-year-old Darryl Terry of Pittsburgh, whose body was found in the street in front of his store.

Toler said the woman was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in critical condition.

No arrests were immediately reported in the case.
