FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - There are no words on the signs of the cannon, church, circle of stars or roaring lion in Fayetteville and Cumberland County. Just an arrow.
But the Fayetteville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau hopes people will figure out that the bureau has all the answers.
The bureau has created 17 themed driving trails in the area for visitors, The Fayetteville Observer (https://bit.ly/S9UdZ4) reported.
John Meroski with the visitor’s bureau says the campaign frames the area’s tourism features in an attractive visual manner.
Booklets for the trails are available at the bureau office in Fayetteville, as well as at visitfayettevillenc.com.
Meroski says there are 750 miles of history along the trails. Among the trail topics, Lafayette’s tour in 1825, the fight for American independence and the Civil War.
Other topics include an African-American Heritage Trail; the Gaelic Beginnings Trail; Historic Architecture; Religious Freedom; Paths, Plank Roads and Planes; and Patriots, Past and Present.
There are other trails that focus on shopping and eating, bookstores and libraries, consignment shops, thrift stores and pawn shops, antique stores, and locally owned restaurants and farmers markets.
There also are trails for highlighting outdoor activities and gardens, parks and theaters.
