VIGO, Spain (AP) - Celta Vigo has hired former player Eduardo Berizzo as its new coach to replace Luis Enrique.

Celta says on its website that Berizzo has agreed to a two-year contract.

The Argentine manager arrives from coaching Chilean side O’Higgins. He served as Marcelo Bielsa’s assistant for Chile in the 2010 World Cup.

Berizzo played for Celta from 2001-05, helping it reach the Champions League in 2003 and the final of the Copa del Rey in 2001. He also played for River Plate and Marseille.

Enrique, who stepped down after one season last week, was hired by Barcelona on Monday.
