YONKERS, N.Y. (AP) - A potential strike by school bus drivers in several Westchester County districts has been averted after a tentative contract agreement was reached.

The Journal News of Westchester reports (https://lohud.us/1nUa7UR ) the deal between the drivers and the school bus company owner was reached on Saturday. It has still has to be approved by the executive board of Local 100 of the Transport Workers Union and ratified by the membership.

The company, Mile Square, transports all bused students to the Mount Vernon schools and about half the students in New Rochelle and Yonkers.

The tentative contract, if approved, would extend into 2016 and offers pay increases and some retroactive pay.
