LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) - A quiet zone will silence trains traveling through downtown Lakeland will be in effect soon.

The Lakeland Ledger reports (https://bit.ly/1gwnFUi) that the new rules forbidding trains from blowing horns at every road that crosses the railroad tracks will begin June 7.

The quiet zone has been long sought in downtown Lakeland since the announcement of the now open CSX Central Florida Integrated Logistics Center in Winter Haven.

The center has added four train trips a day to the railroad track that runs through downtown Lakeland.
