BERLIN (AP) - Hertha Berlin has signed Switzerland midfielder Valentin Stocker from Swiss champion FC Basel.
The Bundesliga side says on its website that the 25-year-old Stocker is getting a four-year deal through June 2018.
Hertha director Michael Preetz says, “Stocker is an outstanding player who fits our requirements precisely. He’ll bring a lot of flexibility and goal-threat to our attacking game.”
Stocker scored 50 goals and set up 62 more in 175 games for Basel. He also has three goals in 21 appearances for Switzerland and will go to the World Cup in Brazil.
Kicker magazine reports the transfer fee is just under five million euros ($6,850,000), making Stocker likely Hertha’s biggest transfer of the summer.
