ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Five units of New York’s Air National Guard have won a national award recognizing their service locally and overseas.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Friday that the units have received the national Air National Guard’s awards of excellence.

The units receiving the honor are the 174th Attack Wing, the 152nd Air Operations Group, the 106th Rescue Wing, the 109th Security Forces Squadron, and the state Air National Guard headquarters in Latham.

The awards recognize service in response to Superstorm Sandy and Tropical Storm Irene as well as deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq.
