CHICAGO (AP) - Former Cook County Board President Todd Stroger has a new government job.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported Saturday (https://bit.ly/1gSkIbk ) that Alderman Howard Brookins has hired Stroger as a contract employee. Stroger will work on a month-to-month basis, earning what would equal about $25,000 to $30,000 per year.
Stroger replaced his father, the late county board President John Stroger, in 2006. He lost the seat to Toni Preckwinkle in 2010.
Two of Stroger’s one-time top aides have since been sentenced to prison for corruption. Gene Mullins was convicted of taking kickbacks on county contracts. Carla Oglesby was convicted of stealing $300,000 in public money.
Stroger wasn’t charged with any crime.
Brookins says Stroger is still highly respected in his community. He says Stroger “can help me in a variety of ways.”
