BALTIMORE (AP) - Baltimore fire officials say firefighters rescued a woman who was trapped on a burning boat in the city’s Inner Harbor.

The fire broke out around 1 p.m. Saturday in the water off Aliceanna Street in Harbor East. Two boats were burning when firefighters arrived.

Fire department spokesman Capt. Ronan Clark says crews were told that someone was aboard one of the boats. They were able to rescue the woman from below deck. She was taken to a hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. No one else was hurt.

Clark says the cause of the fire is under investigation. The fire was brought under control, and damage is estimated at $100,000.

The fire created a large column of smoke that could be seen for miles.
