SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Utah’s unemployment rate resumed its pattern of slowly ticking down last month after a slight increase in March.
The latest jobless report released by the Department of Workforce Services on Friday shows April’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.8 percent, down from 4.1 the month before.
Across the country, April’s national jobless rate was down to 6.3 percent from 6.7 percent in March.
Friday’s numbers for Utah and the U.S. mark lows last seen in late 2008 before the start of the economic recession.
DWS reports Utah added more than 36,000 jobs in April than in the same month a year earlier.
The trade, transportation and utilities industry led the job growth, adding 7,900 jobs new jobs over April 2013.
