LEBANON, Ky. (AP) - A central Kentucky man has died after a shooting that Kentucky State Police say involved an officer who responded to the man’s house.

State police say two state troopers and a Commercial Vehicle Enforcement officer went to the home in response to a suicide threat at about 9:30 a.m. EDT Friday.

Police said in a statement that Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Jason Morris fired his weapon a few minutes later, striking 38-year-old Joseph L. Livers III of Lebanon, when he saw Livers brandish a long gun and point it at the officers.

Livers was given first aid at the scene until being taken to Spring View Hospital, where he was pronounced dead just before 10:30 a.m.

No officers were injured.

The statement said Morris is an 11-year law enforcement veteran.
