LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities have identified a 25-year-old Henderson man who died after being shot at a posh suite in the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
Clark County coroner’s officials identified the victim as Evan Plunkett.
Police said shots were fired about 9:20 p.m. Thursday after a fight erupted between Plunkett and three other men during a party in the hotel’s Fantasy Tower. Plunkett was taken to University Medical Center with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest and later died.
Police say the three men fled the scene before officers arrived and have not been arrested.
Investigators said some 40 to 50 people attended the party, and the hotel was temporarily locked down after the shooting.
Resort officials declined to release details about the shooting but said Friday that they are cooperating with police.
“We are saddened by this unfortunate, isolated incident, and our thoughts are with the victim’s friends and family,” the statement said. “The safety and security of our guests and team members are always our number one priority.”
The Palms is home to some of the most extravagant party suites in Las Vegas, including a 9,000-square-foot Sky Villa that rents for $40,000 a night and a Hardwood Suite that features a private basketball court.
A relative of Plunkett’s declined to comment when reached by phone Friday.
