PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona transportation officials say a motorcycle crash is expected to cause long delays on Interstate 17 in Phoenix.

The Arizona Department of Transportation says drivers traveling north on I-17 from Phoenix will likely experience traffic backup Friday afternoon.

ADOT says the crash led authorities to contain traffic to one northbound lane for a 9-mile stretch north of New River, near the Rock Springs Road exit.

Officials say one person was critically injured Friday morning and had to be flown to a hospital.

ADOT says motorists should allow extra time for travel or take alternate routes.

The agency did not give a time for when both northbound lanes would reopen.
