HELENA, Mont. (AP) - Montana’s unemployment rate has fallen below 5 percent for the first time in more than five years.
The Labor Department announced Friday that the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell 0.3 percentage points to 4.8 percent in April. The national unemployment rate fell 0.4 percentage points to 6.3 percent.
Montana’s unemployment rate was most recently below 5 percent in September 2008 before rising as high as 6.8 percent in late 2010.
Montana has added nearly 10,000 jobs since the beginning of the year.
