SAN DIEGO (AP) - A man already serving time for his role in the shooting death of a San Diego police officer has been sentenced to an additional year in prison for conspiring to dissuade a witness from testifying.

U-T San Diego reports (https://bit.ly/1gNf1vb ) 29-year-old Alex Charfauros was sentenced to 85 years to life plus 11 years after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the death of Officer Christopher Wilson.

Charfauros was not the gunman, but prosecutors said he set events in motion that led to Wilson’s death.

The officer was shot in the head in 2010 while authorities were checking up on Charfauros, who was on probation, and another man.

Charfauros admitted he conspired with two others to get information on a witness, and then use force or fear to dissuade him from testifying.
