GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) - The preferred shuttle road serving whitewater rafters on the lower Rogue River is open.
The U.S. Forest Service said Friday that the gates closing Bear Camp Road for the winter are open earlier than usual due to the lack of snow in the mountains.
The 50-mile route follows logging roads from Galice outside Grants Pass, over the Klamath Mountains to Agness, the traditional end of the wild and scenic section of the Rogue
The road is not plowed in winter, and does not usually open until Memorial Day Weekend.
