MADRID (AP) - Colombia striker Radamel Falcao says he’ll only play in the World Cup if he has completely recovered from the knee injury that has sidelined him since January.

The 28-year-old Falcao underwent surgery on the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and knows “it will be impossible to be 100 percent” fit for Colombia’s June 14 opener against Greece.

Falcao told Spanish sports daily Marca that “if I have a good feeling I will go. If I don’t think I can bring anything to the team, I’ll be prudent and won’t.”

The Monaco striker says his knee “is improving without any setbacks.”

Colombia, which included Falcao in its preliminary 30-player squad, has until June 2 to choose its 23-man team for Brazil.

Colombia also plays the Ivory Coast and Japan in Group C.
