DECATUR, Ga. (AP) - A former NFL player has rekindled his pursuit of a career in the criminal justice field by working full-time with the DeKalb County District Attorney’s office.
Officials said Thursday that former pro football player and Dunwoody High School graduate, Dexter Jackson, is now working in the records division after earning a degree in criminal justice.
Jackson attended Appalachian State University on an athletic scholarship and pursued a career in the NFL with just one semester left before graduating. He was drafted to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2008, but tore his ACL in 2013 after also playing in North Carolina and New York.
Jackson used the NCAA’s degree completion award program to finish his studies, and District Attorney Robert James calls him a “tremendous asset.”
