ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A tug vessel has leaked at least 5,000 gallons of diesel fuel into the Nushagak River after hitting a submerged rock in the water.

The Anchorage Daily News reports (https://is.gd/AsNW3y) the accident happened early Wednesday just east of Dillingham.

State officials say the captain of the 100-foot Devon reported the collision and fuel tank damage about 1 a.m..

The tug had been towing a barge in the river.

There’s been no report of impacts to wildlife.

The tug’s owner will attempt to move the barge Thursday.
