ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A bipartisan commission meets next month to make recommendations to Gov. Susana Martinez for filling a court vacancy created by the retirement of an Albuquerque judge.

Lawyers interested in applying for the position on the 2nd Judicial District court must submit applications to the Judicial Nominating Commission by June 11.

The commission is scheduled to meet June 20 at the Bernalillo County Courthouse in Albuquerque to interview applicants and recommend candidates for possible appointment by the governor.

The commission is made up of judges, lawyers and members of the public

District Judge Ross Sanchez is retiring effective June 17.
