ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Corrections officials and family members say a man incarcerated at the Anchorage jail died days after hanging himself with bed sheets.

The Anchorage Daily News reports (https://is.gd/jwnDBr) 24-year-old Mark Bolus of Chugiak was pronounced dead Tuesday.

Jail personnel had found him unresponsive in an isolation cell just after 8 a.m. Sunday.

He was jailed on a probation violation, and his mother says he requested an isolated cell because the general jail population scared him. Family members say he suffered from paranoid schizophrenia.

He’s the third person to die at an Anchorage-area jail in the last six weeks. Davon Mosely died because of bleeding ulcers at the Anchorage jail April 4.

Amanda Kernak died April 10 at the women’s prison in Eagle River. Autopsy results for her death haven’t been released.
