NEW YORK (AP) - Long Island Rail Road service is back to normal following a freight derailment east of Jamaica Station a day earlier.

The agency says trains are running on or close to schedule for the morning rush hour on Thursday.

Three cars of a New York & Atlantic Railway train partially derailed and blocked a track around 3 p.m., Wednesday.

It caused delays and some cancellations on the LIRR.

Jamaica Station is a major transfer point on the railroad’s main line in and out of Penn Station.

The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
