NOTTINGHAM, England (AP) - A former Premier League player who was eating ice cream at the wheel has been sentenced to 18 months in jail for dangerous driving after causing a three-car highway pileup.
Marlon King also drew a three-year driving ban for his actions in April. He had already pleaded guilty.
Judge Paul Mann of Nottingham Crown Court said Thursday this was not a case of “merely impulsive or silly behavior. It was aggressive. It was arrogant.”
The 34-year-old King played for Watford, Wigan, Hull and Middlesbrough in the Premier League. He played internationally for Jamaica.
King is currently without a club after Sheffield United released him last year.
